The Dallas Williams Collection

Description

Dallas Williams was a resident of Sedgwick County and a member of the Fort Sedgwick Historical Society Board of Directors. He was an avid enthusiast of local history and had a great love for Fort Sedgwick. He led a large research effort and authored two books on Fort Sedgwick that are still in print, Fort Sedgwick, Colorado Territory: Hell Hole on the Platte (1996) and Fort Sedgwick, C.T.: the medical log: or the diaries and commentaries of Dr. F. Le Baron Monroe, Capt., USA, and Dr. Jno. Murray Dickson, Capt., USA, during their stay at the post 1868-1871 (1995). The artifacts included in this collection are the result of extensive metal detecting at Fort Sedgwick in the 1980s-1990s as part of Dallas Wiliams' research effort.
